I think you shouldn't eat pork.
Pigs are very smart animals. Smarter than most house dogs. The conditions that pigs live to become food is down right ridiculous. They are literally crammed as tight as possible until they have no room to fit any more. The pigs suffer severe boredom from being unable to walk around in their cages that they will bite other pigs tails and eat the metal cage. This wouldn't happen normally if they had enough room to move around.
It is intuitive from the way pigs react to stimuli that they receive pleasure and pain that is comparable to our own. Is the torture that these animals receive and eventual death while in the factory farm really justified for us to eat them? How much pain are we dealing out for the relatively small amount of pleasure one receives by tasting the pork? I can not justify dealing that amount of pain out and is the reason I do not eat pork.
What is it about pigs that allows us to treat them so unfair compared to other humans? As I said above they are smart, and most likely smarter than babies and severly retarded humans. They receive pleasure and pain very similar to us. There doesn't seem to be any logically consistant reason to treat them so differently.
You asked why you shouldn't eat pork, and that is why. |

But the computer has some redeaming qualities, pork doesnt. I can get teh protein from other things, and there are many foods that taste better than bacon. On the other hand there is no "safe" alternative to computers. |

Good point, women aren't really a safe alternative. _________________ Still using Gentoo, just too busy for forums these days. |

Pigs are VERY close to humans genetically.
So their sicknesses can tranfer on us better than other animals sickenesses.
If you undercook pork you run a risk of getting sick, hence some peoples ban pork. _________________ Child - Noun. Pronunciation Key: (chld)

As for women, if you could hook em up to the internet then they could be a viable alternative. |

Instead of OTW you could have pen pals, and who needs Slashdot when you can subscribe to Wired magazine and read a newspaper? What have I left out? Databases? Fuck that. There's nothing wrong with a spiral notebook and a pencil. |

I quoted it first and feliperal quoted it after me. I just noticed that feliperal also has Jules as his avatar. |

While I prefer beef to pork, I do like pork in all shapes and sizes . Besides, if they refuse to eat pork, it means that there's more pork for me! _________________ My tech-blog | My other blog |
