i get this strange installation error when i (try to) install doom3.
after the installation is almost finished, it aborts with this error:
Code:

 * Copying files from Disk 3...
man:
>>> Completed installing doom3-data-1.1.1282 into /var/tmp/portage/doom3-data-1.1.1282/image/

./
./opt/
./opt/doom3/
./opt/doom3/d3xp/
./opt/doom3/d3xp/pak000.pk4
./opt/doom3/base/
./opt/doom3/base/pak000.pk4
./opt/doom3/base/pak001.pk4
./opt/doom3/base/pak002.pk4
./opt/doom3/base/pak003.pk4
./opt/doom3/base/pak004.pk4
>>> Done.
!!! CATEGORY info missing from info chunk, aborting...

and that's it.
i have no idea why this happens.

some info about the system:
Code:

Portage 2.1_pre5-r1 (default-linux/x86/2005.0, gcc-3.4.5, glibc-2.3.6-r2, 2.6.15-gentoo i686)
=================================================================
System uname: 2.6.15-gentoo i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz
Gentoo Base System version 1.12.0_pre3
ccache version 2.4 [enabled]
dev-lang/python:     2.3.4-r1, 2.4.2
sys-apps/sandbox:    1.2.11
sys-devel/autoconf:  2.13, 2.59-r7
sys-devel/automake:  1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6
sys-devel/binutils:  2.16.1
sys-devel/libtool:   1.5.18-r1
virtual/os-headers:  2.6.11-r2
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86"
AUTOCLEAN="yes"
CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu"
CFLAGS="-march=pentium4 -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"
CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu"

to me it seems like a portage error.
any ideas?
thx.

======= EDIT: SOLVED (kinda) ==========

after a little bit of more reading i deleted the game's tmpdir in /var/tmp/portage and successfully emerged it with
Code:
 FEATURES="-buildpkg" USE="cdinstall dedicated" emerge -av doom3

the FEATURES="-buildpkg" is what did it, i think. maybe i'll build a package now, i'm not sure i really need it.
just WHY it worked this way escapes me; on other systems (amd_64) it could easily be installed including building a package.

See the thread for that error message.

The same error popped up while installing UT2004...I believe the reason why buildpkg fails is because there is not enough disk space to create the package. I had 10 gb total left before installing the game and the game's data ocupies roughly 7 gb.
