Hi there,
I went and subscribed myself to Cedega.....ran;
emerge cedega
and all went fine.
now, when I try to run Cedega, it opens up the first window with the setup wizard, then I press "next".....and Cedega crashes. The error is;
stig@tux ~ $ cedega
tail: `-1' option is obsolete; use `-n 1' since this will be removed in the future
tail: `-1' option is obsolete; use `-n 1' since this will be removed in the future

I realize from the following Googling, that it is a P2Play / Python issue.......how do I get around it?. I tried emerging pygtk, but that didn't help. Neither did revdep-rebuild, python-updater, perl-cleaner, or reemerge of glade, libglade, gtk+, python, cairo and pango.
Did I just throw good money out of the window?.

this is going to be a pretty lame suggestion, but
try setting it up without point2play
it looks like all the errors are about the interface, not cedega itself. and the interface is only saving you typing a couple of lines in your console. so find the cedega setup instructions, follow them and if you're lucky point2play might work after that.
the lame bit, of course, is that it's so long since i used those instructions that i don't remember what they said or where i found them.
and the sad bit is i never got a satisfactory game of Tony Hawke 3 or Morrowind out of it, even though both are supported and supposed to work.
good luck though... |

radagast: p2p does not exist anymore by itself. Cedega now contains both the engines and the interface.
scaramanga: post on transgaming support page first... they might know.
Look here too (#9 post), worth trying...

Yep, thanks. That patch did in fact work!. However, it's line 654 in /usr/lib/transgaming_cedega/Point2Play_gui.py that needs to be changed. |
