So I finally got the amd64 version installed on my laptop (HP Dv8000) working with wireless and everything.
It boots fine to the CLI with out a bootsplash.
When I boot it with the splash I get:

/root is reiserfs
Here's the grub.conf file (booting the no splash one works fine)

If I choose the splash screen one, the splash screen comes up, then it panics.
Any ideas??

I see that kind of error when there is a problem with the initrd. Perhaps you added something to it (like a dsdt) that changes its behaviour...
