New problem, the package with rm, chmod and those basic command seem to have broken somehow. When i do rm it write fonction not implemented, same for chmod. What package/file i need to reemerge/copy over. ls, cd, cp,mv still work

--SOLVED--
Hi, after unpacking the stage3 archive, i can do some command (ls, cd, rm), but if i do emerge portable, env-update of any important command, i get
wrong elf class elfclass32
on every command i do after. The lib that send this error is not always the same, aparently, all lib senf this error, this is really strange. I followed the install guide like a did 1 million time with my old 32bit cpu

so which stage3 tarball did you download ?

please don't say ia64 :roll: since that is only for the Itanium-based processors

use x86, i686 -> 32bit
amd64 -> 64bit, amd64, em64t, intel64

Are you doing a 32bit installation or a 64bit installation ? (yes, you have a choice)

In either case, you must not mix and match the pieces.
Use a 64bit CD with a 64bit stage tarball and a 64bit profile and 64bit settings in /etc/make.conf

... or use 32bit everything.

amd64

but aparently, it was few a bunch of corupted file, i deleted all file and downloaded the archive again and now it work. And about the choice, i got ubuntu 32bit as main OS and i will use this gentoo to be cutting edge with a 3 page long make.conf. It is the beauty of linux, you can a have stable system AND an unstable one for the same price, with windows, you can only pay for an unstable system. And macosx is not really for me (the laptop is a mac book pro, but i bought it for other reason).

why not (ok, it is 3 page if you have a very small resolution, but it is not too bad ;) if someone know few other options that can make it more unstable and faster, tell it!

I know Gentoo gives you enough rope to hang yourself.

... and I think you have done exactly that. :?

grep for chmod or rm or the other stuff you broke with your insane settings in /var/db.

grep -R chmod /var/db/pkg

or just think for a moment. There is a category called 'sys-apps' with core applications. And chmod, rm&co are core applications. And there is a package called 'coreutils' ...

Oh, wow. That's not optimisation. That's optimism.

Moved from Other Things Gentoo to Unsupported Software by request of nightmorph

Reason: He's using terrible combinations of conrad, xeffects, and every other broken overlay and make.conf setting known to mankind. --> Unsupported Software, for usage of conrad/xeffects alone, as per the other threads. To say nothing of the stupid cflags.
