So I recently just upgraded to gnome unstable from the breakmygentoo ebuild repository. Overall everything is working very nicely. But I am having an issue with, I think, gnome-volume-manager.
Gnome-volume-manager is not auto-mounting my cds/dvds. The only time it will mount a cd/dvd, is if I (re)start hal/dbus/gnome-vfs/gnome-volume-manager with the disc in the drive. If I eject the disc and insert another one, it will not mount it.
Also, when using USB mass storage devices. It detects and mounts then just fine, but when disconnecting the device gvm/hal (not sure which one controls that?) does not remove the mount point ( /media/disk-# ). So then when I plug in another device, or the same, it creates another set of mount points for it. What happens is, I end up accumulating many /media/disk-# folders, that are not removed. EDIT: Ok, the mount points are removed with a hald restart. But still not removed at the time I remove the device, which was the case with gnome 2.12.2 setup.
But it _does_ remove the mount point for the cd/dvd disc on that first automount. But ofcourse I don't have a build up of mount points for it because, it won't mount it more than that first time.
Anyone else encouter this? Have a fix or solution to the problem? _________________ I wish hell would freeze over already.

Update: Upgraded to gvm 1.5.12 with the same behavior present. I just wanna know if there's anyone else that happens to be experiencing this behavior? I couldn't find any bug reports, and I submitted my own with gnome using bug-buddy... _________________ I wish hell would freeze over already.

Have all that done already, went through that setting up networkmanager. =( The problem is not getting gvm to start, it starts just fine. It's getting it to function the way it's suppose to. _________________ I wish hell would freeze over already.
