|
*nix games that are both fun and visually attractive. By fun, I mean something that you actually enjoy playing. Pretty much anything other than FPS games (which have been covered ad nauseum on these forums) are eligible.
Puzzle
Anagramarama: Find anagrams, this is my favourite time waster.
Briquolo: 3D arkanoid (suggested by Aynjell).
Crack Attack: Similar to Tetris Attack (suggested by gaminggeek).
Fish-Fillets-NG: Guide two fish by moving obstacles. Weird.
Frozen Bubble: Group coloured balls. Looks really nice.
I Have No Tomatoes: 3D tomato squashing (suggested by JoseJX).
LBreakout2: An arkanoid clone. Really addicting.
LinCity-NG: Sim City type game. Looks really good.
Monsterz: Bejeweled clone. Great sounds.
Neverball: Monkey Ball type game. Bloody hard.
Pathological: Coloured marble puzzle game.
Racing
Planet Penguin Racer: Penguin sledding game (suggested by charlieg).
TORCS: 3D racing simulator (suggested by sirdilznik).
Trigger: 3D rally racing (suggested by sirdilznik).
VDrift: 3D driving simulator (sugested by charlieg).
Strategy
Battle for Wesnoth: Fantasy turn based game (suggested by Torangan).
Boson: Military RTS (suggested by charlieg).
FreeCol: Colonization clone (suggested by charlieg).
FreeOrion: Master of Orion clone (suggested by charlieg).
Glest: Fantasy RTS (suggested by charlieg).
Globulation 2: In depth RTS (suggested by BlackEdder).
Nexuiz: 3D death match (suggested by charlieg).
S.C.O.U.R.G.E.: Graphical NetHack type game (suggested by charlieg).
TA Spring: Sci-Fi RTS based on Total Annihilation (suggested by charlieg).
UFO AI: Sci-Fi turn based game based on the X-COM games (suggested by charlieg).
Vega Strike: 3D space exploration and trading (suggested by charlieg).
Apparently charlieg loves strategy games... _________________ The free market gave me gonorrhea.

Great links. I'd never heard of Frank's Corner or Gentoo Games before.

No me neither, I was quite surprised at how good it looks. I haven't had time to sit down and really play it yet though. _________________ The free market gave me gonorrhea. |

Wow, lots of game suggestions. Thanks guys. My compiler's getting a good workout
One thing I've noticed about Linux games is the lack of instructions. For example, I can't figure out how to add roads in LinCity-NG and I have no idea how to even play I Have No Tomatoes. Battle of Wesnoth really stands out in this regard, the manual is very good. _________________ The free market gave me gonorrhea. |

OMG... how did I forget scummvm! Thank you so much!
For scummvm, you can't just merge scummvm, you need to do this:
| Code: | | emerge scummvm fotaq bass |
