Hi,

I seem to have the same problem. Last day I upgraded Openoffice from 1.4 to 2.0.1 and it compiled with no errors, except it does not start:

Code:

/usr/lib/openoffice/program/javaldx: error while loading shared libraries: libuno_sal.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libucbhelper3gcc3.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

When running revdep-rebuild it reports:
Code:

Checking dynamic linking consistency...
  broken /usr/lib/openoffice/program/kdefilepicker (requires  libstlport_gcc.so libuno_sal.so.3)
  broken /usr/lib/openoffice/program/libagg680li.so (requires  libstlport_gcc.so)
  broken /usr/lib/openoffice/program/libeggtray680li.so (requires  libstlport_gcc.so)
  broken /usr/lib/openoffice/program/libnpsoplugin.so (requires  libstlport_gcc.so)
  broken /usr/lib/openoffice/program/libuno_cppu.so.3 (requires  libstlport_gcc.so libuno_sal.so.3)
 done.
  (/root/.revdep-rebuild.3_rebuild)

Assigning files to ebuilds... done.
  (/root/.revdep-rebuild.4_ebuilds)

and then starts recompiling Openoffice and at some point returns the same error that Lou.B reported.

Anyone?
Regards,
Filipe

I'm afraid that I don't have any suggestions for solving this. Personally, I use openoffice-bin as I didn't want to wait 12 hours for it to build... which it aparently doesn't do. :(

(I do the same with firefox and thunderbird)

colorls is a part of coreutils i think. Have you updated that recently? you might need to roll back if that is the case.

If you repeat the compilation do you fail in the same place ? If not - it is probably hardware problem
On one of my machines long compiles are failing with similar (irrelevant) diagnostics, because processor overheats.

I disagree, I this it's too early on for it to be an overheating problem

Perhaps, I don't know how far into compilation is the failure. My machine overheats in ~15-20 min of compilation (it has ambient CPU temperature
of 51C, when and if it goes above 60C it can fail). Nevertheless, it is interesting to see if it is repeatable at exactly the same spot.

You're probably running the unstable coreutils. Re-emerge the stable coreutils (~5.2.1) and the problem should go away.

I was able to replicate using a version of coreutils (i'm at work and can't remember which one)
the 1.5 jdk shouldn't be a problem these days.

Anyone with this or a similar problem should definitely check their coreutils version

I just tested this out and java1.5 works fine. Unstable coreutils is the offender. openoffice emerges fine with stable coreutils.

I have the same error and it seems to be related to tcsh. If I run tcsh I get:

Code:
# tcsh
Unknown colorls variable `su'.

I'm gonna check it out later when I have time.

As someone posted earlier it seems to be related to stuff in DIR_COLORS that newer coreutils versions handle. tcsh has problems with it and segfaults with only that warning.

Commenting out the following lines:

Code:
#SETUID 37;41   # file that is setuid (u+s)
#SETGID 30;43   # file that is setgid (g+s)
#STICKY_OTHER_WRITABLE 30;42 # dir that is sticky and other-writable (+t,o+w)
#OTHER_WRITABLE 34;42 # dir that is other-writable (o+w) and not sticky
#STICKY 37;44   # dir with the sticky bit set (+t) and not other-writable

makes tcsh work. I'm trying to build OO again to see if it works now.

It got past my previous error but now I got the same error as the first poster. So it seems that unstable coreutils is the reason behind both errors.

Code:
emerge -1 coreutils

That fixed my problem. OOo is correctly emerging now (passed boost)

Did the error occur for revdep-rebuild only?
This was the behavior I experienced. Calling emerge directly builds OOo fine.
There's also a bug related to this issue: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128789
