GnuCash 2.0 is out but not keyworded ~ppc. Does anyone know whether there's a reason for this beyond the developers not having a ppc box to test it on?

Not sure about GnuCash.

For such packets I have my /opt folder, and all the subdirs (bin, lib, src, var, etc) in that directory. Then I configure the packages with
Code:
./configure --prefix=/opt

and install the whole thing into the /opt tree. If it works, fine; then let the Gentoo guys know. If it doesn't then you know why it doesn't have the ~ppc keyword set :-)

Well, you can test if yourself and then file a bug report.

Wouldn't it be easier to just edit /etc/portage/package.keywords and add ~x86 to gnucash?

I guess that would work too... But why do it the easy way when there's a much more complicated one? ;-)

echo "app-office/gnucash -* ~*" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
and
echo "x11-libs/goffice" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
and
emerge -av gnucash
builds fine... :D
