Can't sync palm with guest OS after VMWare upgrade (Solved)

After emerging vmware-workstation-5.5 from 5.0 I can no longer sync my palm with windows 2000. The VM claims it can see the palm tungsten but hot sync times out. Everything worked with 5.0 and nothing else seems to be broken. I would downgrade back to 5.0 but it's not in portage anymore. What's considered the best way to deal with this when using Gentoo?
