|
|
I just have to say it Gentoo Really rocks
I have tried many other distros before and was slightly preturbed to say the least.
I just didn't get it I was not really any happier with Linux than windows.
then I tried Gentoo, I am not saying it was easy it took a few attempts, mainly because I was too eager and just missed certain important things from the install guide.
but I got there, and I now have it installed on 3 machines, one as my general do everything server 2 as workstations.
I am sat here now on this machine, burning a cdr, playing an mp3 typing this, emerging Mozilla1.3 on two machines with distcc have openoffice open working on a presentation and it is solid as a rock!!
This would also be possible on XP but it would be slow and it would be painful watching the screen redraw when I switch from one app to the next, not so with Gentoo and KDE3.1
Long live Gentoo it is exactly what I have been looking for for many years and much more
Gentoo Developers and eveyone else involved with Gentoo please please please keep up the good work, I can forsee Linux becoming a very serious contender on the desktop market in the near future and it is thanks to you Gentoo
Regards
Yeric |

I think the 'Larry the Cow' bit sums it up best. |

Excellent idea, eccept I am not yet in full emplyment, finishing my last year HND in Computing
I am looking at donating my practical skills though, I just need to learn CVS and ebuilds first, this is one thing I do find anoying with academic institutions in the UK they do not attempt to teach CVS, and they have only just moved from Pascal to Java, what about C++ ;p
