Strange behaviour....
1)
USB keyboard working both in the bios, and at linux prompt.

2)
Without doing anything I reboot. This means:
Code:

reboot

3)
USB keyboard is dead, not working in both the bios, and at linux prompt. Neither grub works.

THE ONLY SOLUTION TO THE COMPLETE INABILITY TO DO ANYTHING IS UNPLUGGING THE MACHINE. YES REMOVING THE PLUG, CUTTING DOWN COMPLETELY HIS POWER JUICE MAKES THE KEYBOARD ALIVE AND, OF COURSE, IF I REBOOT AGAIN IT STOPS WORKING AS BEFORE.

I tried both vanilla-sources and latest alan-cox patches...

WHY???? WHAT'S WRONG HAS ANYBODY EVER EXPERIENCED SUCH AN ANNOYING BEHAVIOUR ??

THANKS

I can only suggest a BIOS flash upgrade, however I generally try to avoid doing these as much as possible -- I pretty much only ever do them if I am sure it will solve the problem. I have no idea if it will solve your problem or not, so I suggest you look first for other solutions. It's just the only thing that makes sense to me. You don't happen to be using the ECS K7S5A mainboard do you? I have seen this a few times on that board, never did really get it fixed. I stopped using ACPI and that did dodge the problem, however I could not soft-power-off the system anymore -- but atleast a reboot didn't hang things up quite so bad.
