Every time I try to emerge WineX I get the following error.
Code:
var/tmp/portage/winex-20021123/temp/ccg6K5Ui.s: Assembler messages:

make: *** [dlls] Error 2

!!! ERROR: app-emulation/winex-20021123 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 69, Exitcode 2
!!! make depend all failed

I had this on a previous install of Gentoo as well. I had hoped with this fresh install of Gentoo this problem would go away, but, alas, no. I searched the forums and there are problems with WineX, none have this error. Does anyone have any help to offer? I am very frustrated with this. I did find a post that mentioned a similar error on the Transgaming that says it will be fixed in version 3.0. Does anyone have anything that will work now, and not when the new version comes out?

Thanks in Advance,
weezie

I am having the same problem. I have done a search of the forums and there is a german chap with the same problem in:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=41112

And more threads at:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=40054
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=38662
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=42068

They seem to be suggesting its a glibc thing at:
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16267

Question is, does downgrading (emerge glibc-xxx, I assume) break anything?

I do not think I am running glibc-2.3.2-pre1. The lastest stable package, according to the online package list is glibc 2.3.1r3. As I am not running unstable packages, I have to be on glibc2.3.1. I will check when I get home. I just trolled through the installation forum over at transgaming. One of the dupport staff made a reply that glibc 2.3 breaks some things, and they are looking in to it. The post was from Friday the 14th.
