hi guys,
as you can see im still pretty new at this, have been around for a while but this is the first problem i havent been able to solve using the search button.
i recently upgraded to kde 3.5.0 using
Code:
emerge -v kde-base/kdebase-startkde
and now when i start kuake or yakuake all that i get is a grey patch in place of where the command window would normally be that doesnt seem to do anything, im certian that the prompt isnt there as i tried to use
Code:
touch test
and no file was made.

incidently konsole still works fine. i have no idea why this is happening but any help anyone could give would be greatly appreciated. are there other packages, not in startkde (yes i know that this is a very minimal version i used) that i need to emerge to make it work or something like that?

edit: ok im now fairly sure that its a something that i need to emerge but im not sure what it is, does anyone out there have any ideas about it?
thanks
S

I never experienced something similar since using yakuake. The only advice I can give you is to ask in the kde-look yakuake page: http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=29153&PHPSESSID=ca23b88a374697b85ca7076142a43399
Surely the autor can give better suggestions than me on which are the bare minimum requirements to run yakuake. ;)

Your Yakuake build is still using the old code from KDE 3.4 (for interfacing with Konsole). You just have to recompile Yakuake for KDE 3.5...remerge the package.

i should have mentioned in my first post, i did in the original but forgot to include in my edited version, that i have actually recompiled it in kde 3.5 so im sure its not that that is causing the problem. thanks for the effort though.
