CONRAD On irc: #conrad on FreeNode
This is a REISER4 CAPABLE LiveCD for installing Gentoo Linux (686 machines)
For the 64-bit CD visit... (0.2.5/no alsa/mplayer)
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-415078.html
NEW x86 VERSION! 0.5_RC
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-421602.html
-----
Setups found to not be bootable...
1 ) Pentium4 3.2 ghz HyperThreading, dma/ide cd-rom, 80 GB ata/udma5 hard drive
Problem ) Hangs at Mounting squashfs image
-----
This CD is fully-compatible for installing Gentoo Linux (686 class cpus) With the Reiser4 Filesystem
This CD is identical to the Gentoo Minimal Install CD, except it includes some more packages (ndiswrapper, pork, etc) and has reiser4 support
0.2.5
* Gentoo-sources-2.6.14+Reiser4
* All-New kernel config (based off of the livecd-kconfigs pkg/gentoo livecd)
* Now using livecd-2005.1 splash because it is more compatible
* Added "nodma" boot option
* Added the program "pork"
* Updated the world
* Removed isolinux splash
* Fixed other various things, now it should boot for everyone who can boot the official gentoo livecd!
(These CDS can be used to install for ANY filesystem!)
0.3.0
-----
* EXACT Same as 0.2.5, EXCEPT...
* THis CD Includes ALSA, and MPLAYER, it is 30 mb bigger than 0.2.5 (it is 201 MB)
* Capability to play mp3's
* Capability to play avi,mpg,asf,wmv,mov,and nearly every other video codec (on MPlayer/framebuffer through svga)
-----
Special Instructions
For reiser4, use the mkfs.reiser4 command, and on your system you need to patch gentoo sources.
On 0.3.0 if you want to play songs/videos...
ALSA should be setup on the bootup
SONGS = mplayer FileName.mp3
VIDEOS = mplayer FileName.mpg -vo svga
-----
Goes great with the Conrad Install Method

Mirror Shortage:
If you could provide a mirror with atleast 200 MB for this CD it would be great and strongly appreciated, I own 1 mirror that is slow and terrible

When I get home I'll throw a copy up on enderandrew.com

I have about 5 gigs of bandwidth a day I don't use.

Edit: I'm having trouble downloading it. I'm only getting 3k a second, and then eventually it just dies out. I can email you an ftp login to upload it to my webspace for a mirror, or you can try to seed it as a bittorrent.

That would be great, the slowness is because it is a lousy mirror. just try again later :\ anyway, I private messaged you about it :)

www.enderandrew.com/conrad/livecd/

I'm downloading it now and getting 500k a second. If people are interested, I can seed it via BT as well.

ndiswrapper was also on the previous version :) Hopefully everything works for you (I never ran wireless, so can't really test it)

On 0.2.5 the orinoco driver is missing :(
What is with 0.3?

Edit: Oh, 0.3 isn't downloadable for me now :(

Edit2: I've decided to install the normal gentoo 2005.1-r1. I must start this LiveCD with gentoo dopcmcia option. So I tried conrad dopcmcia but that gives me only a warning about the missing orinoco driver. Also you can't set the keyboard layout. Yes, it asks, but when I choose german layout, it gives mit standard usa layout.

0.5.0, as stated in the reiser4 problem thread (link posted by mbar below) is going to be nearly flawless, Could you tell me what exactly orinoco is? I will include it for sure.

Sorry about the keymap, I only added dokeymap to the boot options, haven't tested it (I have a US keyboard) if I need anything special for that, let me know and I will make sure I get it right in 0.5.0

The orinoco driver is for all wireless network card based on the orinoco/hermes chipset. This is quiet a large number of card using this driver. Also all prism 2/2.5/3 based cards can use the hermes driver.
And without a wlan access point, it's not good to install if you need it.
I found also the orinoco driver in the module path of the nitro sources, but I have no chance to load them.
The keymap is not a problem, but the wlan driver stop me from install gentoo the conrad way. So I'm again on reisefs 3.6

Cheater,

I am using the 0.3.0 LiveCD and am having a problem with tar refusing my options -xvjpf. It says that --extract --verbose etc... is not a valid option.

EDIT: The MD5Sum is OK so that is not the problem.

EDIT: I tried it on two more machines and get the same problem (burned it again each time)

Thanks,
Ben
