When I attempt to start kspread I get the following error:

Code:

koffice (lib kofficecore): ERROR: Couldn't find the native MimeType in kspread's desktop file. Check your installation !

I've tried a bunch of things including finally unmerging KDE 3.4 with
Code:

equery list kde-base/ | grep 3.4 | xargs emerge --unmerge

and emerging 3.4.1. I didn't emerge all of 3.4.1. Just enough to get digikam (which works but is throwing a different error, I'll work on later) and kspread.

I don't know what to do about this. There isn't much info on google and what info there is, is for earlier versions of KDE. One thread said to run
Code:

kbuildsyscoca

and that gives me screens and screens of these types of errors:

Code:

kbuildsycoca: WARNING: 'kmplayer_part.desktop' specifies undefined mimetype/servicetype 'video/x-avi'
kbuildsycoca: WARNING: '/usr/share/applications/bluefish.desktop' specifies undefined mimetype/servicetype 'text/x-javascript'

I don't how I got it so messed up. I haven't used KDE for a while, since I've trying out Fluxbox.
Is it because I'm not running a full blow installation of KDE? I'd rather just pick and choose and let portage pull in the dependencies, which it seemed to do okay.

Any ideas out there?

I solved my problem. The process of upgrading to gcc 3.4 resolved the issue. I don't know for sure what fixed it, but if I had to guess I'd say emerge -e world.
