I just got a Griffin Powermate USB knob, and it'd be pretty sweet if I could get it working right.
Under Windows, it seems to do everything that it should, but it also sends button-clicks sporadically when you're not pressing it. It *might* be doing this under Linux, too, but after installing the Linux driver for it, I get one of two other problems -- if it's compiled as a module (powermate.o), programs (both user and root) seem to have trouble accessing /dev/input/event0 (which is what it usually ends up being). If support is compiled into the kernel, the Powermate seems to prevent my USB keyboard and mouse from working. I'm afraid I don't know enough about USB HID things to know what's going on there.
UPDATE: I fixed the sporadic button-click problem. (My shoddy USB hub was at fault, strangely enough.)
You can buy one of these crazy things at:

(Probably slightly cheaper at SmallDog.)
