How do I enable standby in linux. I have a gateway 450L laptop and I would never have to turn it off if i could enable it in linux. It is already enabled in the bios that if i press the power button it goes on standby instead of turning off, and if the battery ever reaches one percent. My computer goes on standby fine, screen shuts off, fan stops, and power light starts blinking, exactly how it does in windows, but when i press the power button again, the fan turns on continuously, and the screen never comes back on. I couldn't find any APM stuff pertaining to standby in my kernel, and I don't know where else to look, could someone please help? Thanks |

APM seems to have a conflict with xfree 4.3.0. Since upgrading from xfree 4.2.x, I've not been able to get my system to come back from standby. See these threads: |

well, my standby doesn't even work when there is no xserver running. my system goes into standby fine, the fans turn off, the screen turns off, and the power light starts to blink, but when i try to bring it back from standby, the fan just turns on continuously. I don't think its an x problem because the same thing happens wether or not theres an x server running. |
