If you can't print the handbook, but you are online during the install, you can use links2 on the gentoo live CD to browse the site to the handbook. It's a text based browser. _________________ Someone asked me once if I suffered from mental illness. I told him I enjoyed every second of it.

if you have 56k internet, forget about gentoo!
it'll take you a year to get a decent working system! |

if you still really want a stab at it though you could load knoppix fully into ram (it's a cheat option at the boot prompt), then pull the disk out and pop the gentoo disk in.
otherwise you'd have to download stages and snapshot from the net (might be able to just sync for the snapshot seeing as you often wasnt to do that anyway after a snapshot)
get broadband dude. |

are you even aware that gentoo downloads nearly everything from the internet? on 56k this may be a very unpleasant experience... |
