The plural of FORUM is FORA as in DATUM - DATA, STADIUM - STADIA.

Not particularly. Both are valid. _________________

Or primitive and pretentious, depending on how you view dead languages. _________________

I hope you're joking.
"Fora" would be the correct form in Latin. Actually it is rather strange that "forums" is used, since in other cases English uses the correct form, like phenomenon - phenomena, analysis - analyses... _________________ Kali Ma

<trolling>
Would'nt it rather be...
"Here in Americum..." ?
</trolling>
This question has been solved in every language.
Considering the simple fact that if you wish to take care of the plural, you would need in coherence to take care of the grammatical function as well => use the dative when being in the foro and the accusative when going to the forum... etc...
This would have been far too complicated... would'nt it has been ?
=> as soon as a foreign word is adopted by a language, it varies accordingly with the grammatical rules of this language. |

Firstly, I can't believe this old of a thread has resurfaced, but since it has I will add my thoughts. I also don't like that it is "forums" instead of "fora," but it has been that way for a long time, and is kept as such for sake of tradition (just as the amd64 architecture instead of changing it to x86_64). _________________ “Truth, like infinity, is to be forever approached but never reached.” --Jean Ayres (1972)

You would have preferred x86_64a or x86_64um ? |

| For me "forums" and "fora" looks strange because in German the whole thing is called forum so there is no need for a plural =P |
