Hi!

Ive heard that the source version of WineX doesnt include al the features as the rpm version got, is that true?

and in case id want to buy that program, what to do about rpms?

emerge rpm
rpm -i --nodeps <rpmname>

but does the source verison differ from the rpm ?

The pre-packaged files (the files you have access to when you register) have CD-Key checking capabilities. (So you dont have to use cracks for your games). That is the only difference I know of for sure, but they also tend to be more stable and run better than the cvs snapshots.

I think you don't even need to bother with RPM, subscribers should have also access to a ".tgz"-file, and for that one there is the ebuild "winex-transgaming" then, you just have to put the file into distfiles before. :)

I have the paid version of WineX in RPM format and installing it with rpm -i --no-deps works just fine. For some reason 2.0-1 works a whole lot better than 2.1-1 and up. I get screwy sound problems with higher than 2.0 - could be my specfic sound setup (onboard sound.. eh, Im cheep). Otherwise it works perfectly, especially if used with the gaming-sources kernel.

Several other of my gentoo friends and I also install from the rpm packages... Trust me, the pre-packaged winex does run a lot better.
