I saw some similar error posted already, but no solution so far. Does anyone have a clue? Is perhaps something needed to be recompiled before that?!

Thanks in advance.

Same problem here. My machine is absolutely hosed now, as when I start Xorg, I get "cannot load Nvidia driver" even though a previous version of nvidia, nvidia-glx, and nvidia-settings are installed. This happened during an "emerge world". Great way to finish off my week.

EDIT: I rebooted and it boots. My machine is still acting crappy though.

I've had this same problem, and have tried compiling multiple versions of nvidia-settings, as well as using gcc 3.4 and gcc4. I still haven't been able to compile and and it always gives the same error.

Ok still no fixes a couple of weeks on, something about the /usr/lib/X11/config/host.def file and xmkmf is annoying me.

Working on a solution at the moment but whoever wrote the source hates to keep things simple.

Would you guys appreciate a different control panel - I copied the layout of the windows based one and added in options for GeForce 2's and 400MX's - I have to do GUI installs for loads of people and those are the only cards I come accross (thank god) - so use a simple familiar layout built in the worse unoptimised code (gotta love RAD). Can post link here but accept no responsibility.

P.S. I have errors of /usr/lib/misc/xprint not being found aswell (good! now stop looking for it). Dunno why after a
Code:
emerge -e system
x2 and a
Code:
emerge -e world
x2 with
Code:
USE="-xprint"
and
Code:
rc-update del xprint
for all runlevels - it could even remotely imagine I'd need the file.

Also xdriinfo requires you to
Code:
eselect opengl set xorg-x11
in order to compile then
Code:
eselect opengl set nvidia
to use the program, which is annoying to say the least.
