I am running an AMD64 with the Geforce 6600 GT PCI-E and I unmasked the Quake4 date and bin from portage and proceeded to install it. Everything went fine except when I run it I get this error:
Code:
X..GL_ARB_texture_compression not found

When I looked in nvidia-settings texture compression was listed. Also, I am running the 7676 drivers.

Thanks
Brandon

Yeah, I am borrowing it from a friend (Making sure it works before I buy it.) And it's good to some more of us from the area as Linux users!

That is an openGL extension that is missing (and that should be supported by your drivers) !

do glxinfo, and see if you are using Nvidia drivers (look for server glx vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation).

If not, the switch to nvidia opengl interface, with: eg:

eselect opengl set nvidia
