|

I just got UT2003 installed on a new Gentoo install and patched the game up to the latest version. When I try to run ut2003, I get this
Code: | paulisdead@deepthought $ ut2003
Xlib: extension "XiG-SUNDRY-NONSTANDARD" missing on display ":0.0".
appMsgf(): Your CD key appears to be invalid. You will need to reinstall the game and enter your CD key to fix this problem.

This is a legal, legitimate version of the game, and I used the correct CD key when installing the game, but I think something might have gone wrong with it, and would like to know how to re-enter my CD key. I don't want to uninstall the game, since I've had problems getting it uninstalled properly, and then being unable to patch the game if I just remove the ut2003 folder. Here's what happens when I try to run the uninstall script
Code: | root@deepthought ut2003 # ./uninstall
uninstall: dynamic-link.h:57: elf_get_dynamic_info: Assertion `! "bad dynamic tag"' failed.
./uninstall: line 24: 13480 Aborted "$UNINSTALL" "/usr/local/games/ut2003/.manifest/ut2003.xml" "$1" |

You need to create a text file like this
/usr/local/games/ut2003/System/cdkey
and put your cdkey in it. |

Thank you. The CD key in the file was 1 digit off, but it accepted it as being valid during the installation. Now that I've got it in there correctly it works fine. |

heh, when installing the game (if you had bothered to read instead of just pressing next...next...next...finish ) it says that the cd-key is not verified at install-time... |

It is also wierd that it tells you to reinstall because you cd key is invalid, but all you have to do is edit the text file....
Strange and a waste of time. 3Gigs is alot to copy from cd, twice.
BTW I had the same problem. Thankfully I realised that being Linux it would have to be in a text file somewhere, before doing a reinstall. |
