I'm kinda moving away from novell ( :(:(:(:(:( ) mainly because things around me are moving to linux or Microsoft. However, I do thank you for making these. I'll try them out at some point this summer (can't promise when). I need to get more ram in my one machine to do lots of VM's.

Thanks!

Geos_One, perhaps you should consider opening bugs as ebuild requests for these packages, including your ebuilds as attachments to the bugs. This will get better exposure for people who might need these but don't happen to come across this forum thread. The first place many people look for software that isn't in Portage is Gentoo bugzilla.

If you do this, I would recommend one bug per package, unless they belong together as part of a single Novell product -- I'm not familiar with this software so you would be in a better position to make that call.

I think it isn't the right time for that now there are still some big bugs and extensions missing in this ebuilds
(novell-ndsserv requires libncurses-4.*, novell-xtier-base requires a spezial version of libbfd, novell-novfsd novfsd crashes on systems with glibc 2.4 (this package is build for suse 10/10.1 that has also glibc 2.4 hmmm..., and many many more ..)
I want to trak down the errors that ar still bugging me.

but some testers would be great.

mainly the novell-novfsd crashes on glibc-2.4
but someone on www.ndsengineers.com told me that it works on glibc-2.3.6

can someone please create a strace of the start of novfsd and a strace of the running novfsd prozess when you start browsing the tree (in the login window)
i dont have a glibc-2.3.6 station around.

thx in av

if this bugs are removed we would end with a bug per package (some products uses the same packages)

Geos_One, do you plan to make an apparmor ebuild (and make sure it works with gentoo)?

That is the only novell product I am looking for, for gentoo and it would be appreciated. (I don't mind being a test bed for you!)

I've been trying to get groupwise to work on my amd64 for a while with no luck, the novell groupwise 6.5 install script chokes on dependancies, and the rpm doesn't want to install.

I would like to try your ebuild but I get "permission denied" when I try to connect.

geos_one's e-mail as posted on ftp://home.twin.at/fetkanet/ bounces.

Could anyone forward a copy of this ebuild to me if they still have it kicking around? I'll try my hand at making it work on amd64.

This software is interesting projekt it requires some interesting dependencies (kernel - patch, perl, apache2, pam)
I always knew that someday i would end with a spezial kernel for the novell prod ok lets start

i hope i can get the time for the ebuilds in the next weeks.

Are you still working on this great idea to make ebuilds for the Novell products ?
So yes, do you already have a ebuild for the client ?

Thank you Geos.. I can't wait to try out apparmor on Gentoo. I do suggest you submit it in the bugzilla once it is fully working. Would be nice to have it in portage.

It took 3 weeks to get a replay from novell and it is "We are only supporting our own distro SuSE Linux."

I think they didn't realize that there are also other Linux distributions. :D

at the moment i am still working on apparmor-parser init.d script.
its always the same novell is scripting everything (novell-xregd registry initialization, novfsd config script .... ) :?

Hi,

I would suggest you contact Gunnar Wrobel (wrobel@gentoo.org) about getting your svn overlay included in layman. A lot more people will try it out that way.

Thanks for your work on this! I'm curious to check out apparmor.

the download shoud stop
you are not registerd at novell.
you must register at novell

normally this package is fetch restrickted.

you must add
NOVELL_ACCOUNT_USERNAME="balduin" <<<--- add your username here
NOVELL_ACCOUNT_PASSWORD="derfisch" <<<--- add your password here
to your /etc/make.conf
or add your infos in the download and fetch by hand
http://balduin:derfisch@cache.novell.com/prot/2JyMn7sWP_Q~/novell-client-1.2-SLE10.tar.gz

i have done it that way
my servers and workstations shoud download this packeges if they need it.

PostPosted: Thu Sep 07, 2006 9:57 am    Post subject: How do i install ConsoleOne Reply with quote

I get the following

lsd portage # emerge -pv novell-consoleone

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies -
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy ">=net-nds/novell-nldapsdk-8.8.1_p7" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- net-nds/novell-nldapsdk-8.8.1_p7 (masked by: package.mask)
# <mario-fetka@gmx.at> (14 Aug 2006)
# For me eDir 8.8 is not ready for
# Primetime

For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or
refer to the Gentoo Handbook.
(dependency required by "app-crypt/novell-npkit-3.1.1_p1" [ebuild])

Any ideas?
