hoi guys!

well,... I had this problem from the very beginning, than it disappeared, returned with some kernel-/pbbuttonsd-versions, disappeared again...

sometimes my iBook (12", 1.2Ghz G4, BTO from feb 2005) simply dies, just like when I press the powerbutton for a few seconds
no noticeable reason, no heavy load or something, I'm surfing, typing or something, the cpu mostly 80%+ idle and *zap!* screen black, harddisk makes a nice "help! voltage down! I die...!"-noise and silence.
no errors or anything in the logs. nothing.

this only happened with gentoo/Linux so far, the frequency changes extremly with different kernel/pbbuttonsd-versions and mostly I think it's finaly gone... once I had a uptime of 14 days! (suspend=godmode for uptime! :D)

I think it's the pbbuttonsd telling the hardware some shit, this ****** also let the system freeze sometimes the service is startet, mostly when the reason for reboot was on of this power-outages...

some info

There's a discussion of this problem on the debian-powerpc list. I don't think there's a fix yet.

Here's the link:

hmm... thanks for the link either..
I didn't find anything myself ^^""

I (re-)upgraded to pbbuttonsd (now with debug-useflag) and stopped pmud (pbbuttonsd does its job too).. well, 3 hours uptime, we'll see..
