| I'm looking for a little better sound quality from my audigy 2 zs. I'm currently using emu10k1 on 2.6.14-gentoo with alsa. I'm alsa using xmms (the original). Anything I can do to improve sound quality? Not trying to start a flame war of which is better, but which is better for music sound quality only. |

Well, here are some general tips, anyway...
If you've got amplified speakers, use that volume knob instead of the software mixer
Try to keep the software mixer somewhere between 50 and 75%, then adjust your speakers to the desired volume
Make sure that your master volume (and your PCM volume) are both around the same level
YOu may want to try beep-media-player, it's equalizer works a whole lot better than XMMS... (It makes the sound quieter, then amplifies the portions you want. The end result is it's distortion free... then you can just turn your speakers up). _________________ Check out my...
