Yes, I have the misfortune of having this soundcard solderd in my laptop a dell latitude cpm233st. I read this thread https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=1808&highlight=cs4237b
and copied the settings suggested into my /etc/modules.d/alsa file.
I.e. my alsa file reads
alias snd-card-0 snd-cs4236
options snd-cs4236 snd_port=0x530 snd_cport=0x538 snd_mpu_port=0x330 snd_fm_port=0x388 snd_irq=5 snd_mpu_irq=9 snd_dma=1 snd_dma2=0 snd_isapnp=0
I have compiled soundcore as a module
When I run /etc/init.d/alsasound start I get the following
Initialiazing ALSA
Starting sound driver: snd-cs4236 Warning: ignoring cards_limit=1, no such parameter in this module

Yo may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg

My post of 8 May in that thread describes how I got it to work using the cs4232 kernel driver.
