I FINALLY got Gentoo installed. At least the basics. I did an alternative install and aside from a few quirky things and some poor typing on my part, I am up and running.
Only have a few things to work out like my grub menu list. I guess I should have read that part before but I couldnt figure out how to get Windows 98 listed and loaded.
So now, it is off to install of the other *fun* things that we all love about Linux!
Whew! think I'm going to sleep now.

Congratulations !!
I've also nearly finished setup of my gentoo-box. Even firewall (maybe crude) and masquerading works.
Have a nice nap.

Well done.
If you want to load Windows 98, it is the same instructions for Windows NT (in the docs). You obviously have to change the title and it will work. _________________ Postcount ++ |

Yes, congratulations.
I am, on the other hand, about to re-install. Taking all my knowledge I have gained from a few weeks of playing with gentoo, I shall not just accept the defaults and see if I can speed things up.
Wish me luck. |

Hey I just got mine going too. Took me about 2 days altogether to get x and kde going but I have to say that it's worth it. Gentoo rules! |

Yeah, I had nothing but fun with gentoo these days. First gentoo install was from slackware's chrooted environment. Now I'll do the same from gentoo and experiment with gcc 3.1. I like to know which things I've got on my system and I like it optimized, and gentoo provides even more, bdw I like reading forums too |

Yeah, it's a nice feeling when you finally get your gentoo box working.
