Yes! Gentoo did it again!
Thanks to gentoo, xfce4 and prelink my mum's old pentium 3 is usable again!
Pentium III (Katmai)
256MB sdram recognized only as 128MB stick (but compiled everything just fine!)
4GB Hard drive + 512MB Hard drive for swap
My mum uses linux! Firefox, Thunderbird, xMule and OpenOffice2!
Man, I LOVE that distro |

I have a 200mhz doing home server duties
I'm gonna be putting Ubuntu on the family machine when me CDs arrive (It's a 633 Celeron, Gentoo is too much for the old heap), see if I can convert 'em |

...so do I, but originally it was a P90! Running Gentoo BTW, doing all of it's own compiling... |

I used my desktop for the initial setup, but now it does everything overnight. I can accept a slight slowdown in DNS resolving while it works |

I installed gentoo on a P3 Thinkpad. I was pleasantly suprised how well and fast it ran. |
