I'm getting no title bar text in compiz/xgl now as of the latest update.

I installed the new updates as of yesterday (not using the 9999 cvs but 13.11 i think it's called? )

Anyway, I also installed gcompizthemer, and tried it out a bit. I set it up the way I wanted and text was working fine.

Then I restarted Xgl since I had new stuff and it came up with this problem. So I could just downgrade to fix it, and I'm not sure what's new yet so maybe I should but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and maybe resolved it?

Thanks.

Hrm.

Go into gconf-editor.

apps/compiz/plugins/decoration/allscreens/options and see if active_text_halo and inactive_text_halo are set.
Also make sure active_text colour is #ffffff and not #000000

I checked that out and unsetting/setting of the halo doesn't seem to matter, and the active_text color is #ffffff and I've tried other values as well with no success.

What does work is disabling customized decoration, but that's no fun :)

Thanks for the help thus far.

This sounds like a compiz-quinnstorm issue. Have you checked compiz.net yet? If not, please search there or post there. I don't think Quinn checks these forums for issues.

nope, will do now. Can anyone else confirm this is a bug and not just a configuration issue? Anyone else trying to use customized themes with the latest compiz-quinnstorm?

Not as a new install, but have you tried switching to a different theme in gcompizthemer?

The problem is apparently that the new theme system has a setting for text opacity(0.7 in coffeebuzz doesn't support this). Since I didn't have it installed it's using a default of 0 (aka fully transparent). I had to get the cvs for the themer from
cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@metascape.afraid.org:/cvsroot co gcompizthemer (new version 0.8) and it allowed me to change the alpha setting. If I had known the variable names I am sure I could have done this through gconf-editor too (they are active_text_halo_alpha, and so on) but I didn't know them so that's why I couldn't fix it.

Thanks for the help, the forums there were the right place to go. And I'm sure this will be fixed in the overlay soon, I'd try my hand at making an ebuild for the src myself but I doubt it'd be of that much help since the ebuild for the previous one is short and probably is just going to be slightly modified for this.

It's actually 0.9 now that I look, though I think she said 0.8

Let me point you to the thread she told me exactly how to get it.

I found it in cvs after I posted.. I really wish she would start updating her changelog on beerorkid.com/compiz for gcompizthemer stuff too..
