|
|
I've been experimenting a bit with WineX lately, but haven't been able to install anything succesfully yet.
I've been getting a lot of these errors when I try to install something:
Quote: |
err:win:WIN_FindWndPtr window 10021 belongs to other process
|
I get the install screen and then there's an error msg box that pops up and in console I get that error message.
Anyone who might know what's wrong?
If you like I'll post my config.
TiA

It says something about the uninstaller that's already running, and that I have to close it and run setup again
Anyone? |

Well I fixed that, I had my win drive mounted for Wine, but now I tried just with /home/zu/wine/c as my windows drive for Wine and that works better.
I've installed the game Grim Fandango
seems to work, although slow graphics and I can't seem to select D3D, screen just goes blank
Any suggestions? I have a Geforce2 MX |

Hey
I just installed grim fandango under winex -- the install worked, but when I try to play the game it gives me errors about max open files.
What did you do to install it? Anything complex? I really like this game, I used to play it back when I used to actually dual boot ;) No windows on this box anymore. |

Well. That was quite a while ago, but I think I installed winex from CVS.
Like this:
Code: |
emerge cvs (if you don't have it yet)
cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.winex.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/winex login
cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.winex.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/winex co wine
cd wine
./tools/wineinstall
|
Then I just ran the installer with something like
Code: |
winex --winver win98 /mnt/cdrom/setup.exe
|
If it says you don't have DirectX, just ignore.
Hope that helps a bit, sorry if not, haven't really bothered with trying to get the game running lately...
On a sidenote however, if you like the older Lucasart's adventure games, be sure to check out my post about ScummVM: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=5616&highlight=scummvm
Have fun

I'll give it a shot passing it "--winver win98" and see if that makes any difference.
I'll also try it from cvs. I uninstalled it later last night since I figured that the only thing I actually wanted from winex was to play Grim Fandango -- there no reason to have a fake win32 system filling up my already tight 10 gig HD ;) |
