Hi there,
I spend the last days installing gentoo on an iBook G4. Compared to a x86-install it was hell itself. Now, everything is working... apart from X!!!
Now the data: The iBook has an ATI Radeon 9200 graphic card. I compiled all necessary things into the kernel (I spend reading lots of hours!). I configured Xorg with Xorgautoconfig (I don't think, the problem is located there anyway).
Now, when I perform startx, I get the following output and I get back to the console:
Code: | _XSERVTransSocketOpenCOTSServer: Unable to open socket for local
_XSERVTransOpen: transport open failed for local/iBook:0
_XSERVTransMakeAllCOTSServerListeners: failed to open listener for local
Fatal Server error:
Cannot establish any listening sockets - Make sure an X server isn't already running
... some Doku-Infos ...
xinit: Connection refused (errno 111): unable to connect to X server
xinit: No such process (errno 3): Server error |
Now what the hell wants this message to tell me? Any suggestions?
Thanks and greetings,
Semi

Turn on Unix Sockets in your kernel: Networking->Network Options->Unix domain sockets
You probably should back up your existing kernel configuration, do a "make defconfig" and compare the two to see what else you're missing. _________________ Gentoo PPC FAQ: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-ppc-faq.xml |
