I think I had that error at one time. What I did is I set the number of parellel makes to 1 (in /etc/make.conf) and that seemed to fix it although it might have been something else.

Guten Tag!

Ok, here's what I did:
    su to root:

Code:
# su -

Delete all that lmule and wxGTK stuff from portage:

Code:
# emerge -C lmule wxGTK
# rm -R /usr/portage/x11-libs/wxGTK
# rm -R /usr/portage/net-p2p/lmule
# rm /usr/portage/distfiles/lmule*
# rm /usr/portage/distfiles/wxGTK*
# rm /var/tmp/portage/lmule*
# rm /var/tmp/portage/wxGTK*

    Create own portage directories:

Code:
# mkdir ~/ebuilds
# mkdir ~/ebuilds/net-p2p
# mkdir ~/ebuilds/net-p2p/lmule
# mkdir ~/ebuilds/x11-libs
# mkdir ~/ebuilds/x11-libs/wxGTK

    Make them PORTDIR_OVERLAYing:

Code:
# vi /etc/make.conf
--- #PORTDIR_OVERLAY=
+++ PORTDIR_OVERLAY=/root/ebuilds
:wq

Grab the ebuild (lmule-1.2.1.ebuild AND wxGTK-2.4.0.ebuild) from lmule.org and copy them over to your ebuild dir and create digest files:

Code:
# wget http://www.lmule.org/downloads/lmule-1.2.1.ebuild

# wget http://www.lmule.org/downloads/wxGTK-2.4.0.ebuild
# mv lmule-1.2.1.ebuild ebuilds/net-p2p/lmule
# mv wxGTK-2.4.0.ebuild ebuilds/x11-libs/wxGTK
# ebuild portage/net-p2p/lmule/lmule-1.2.1.ebuild digest
# ebuild portage/x11-libs/wxGTK/wxGTK-2.4.0.ebuild digest

    ...Rock'n'Roll...

Code:
# emerge lmule

Hello,

Can someone let me know about the settings you people use in lmule to have an optimal download/upload speed without affecting internet browsing. When I start lmule, it's difficult to connect to an external host over ssh, let alone internet surfing. I'm on a DSL Line 768 kbit/s downstream 128 kbit/s upstream. Thanks alot for your feedback.

Regards,

Assuming you're sitting direcly on the connection (cap it even lower if you aren't and have to share it with other computers/people), I'd cap it at 80kB/s download and 10kB/s upload. Capping the upload is important because unless you're doing some pretty complex QOS voodoo, saturating your upstream will severely hurt downstream performance.

I've never gotten said QOS voodoo to work myself, but that's a topic for the Networking forum.

Thanks alot for that suggestion, will try that and post my results here. What about those hard limits and the number of connections. What numbers do you people have them at ? For optimal downloads? Shall I use the defaults? Set them higher? How high?

tnx n regards

For those I'm using the defaults and not having any problems with it; it's never gotten close to having that many connections open anyway.

I installed lmule today and had the same problem and figured out that it happened because I selected system tray integration with gnome2. If I check "no system tray integration please" then it works fine.
ANybody else verify that? I am trying to emerge wxGTK again (I might have installed it last time with -gtk2 flag... that might be the problem too). And see if lmule works with that .
Right now I just disable the systray support and it atleast starts.... havent tried to use it.

That *was* the problem.
I had done emerge "-gtk2" wxGTK and that didnt work well with gnome2 system integration......

I reinstalled wxGTK with gtk2 support and reinstalled lmule. Now lmule doesnt segfault, but the layout is skrewedup completely

The icons on gnome2 are slightly larger so someget hidden past the right border and I have to resize the window to get to the preferences button.
All the fonts are also larger ( my gtk default I guess) but the widgets didnt resize themselves to accomodate the strings comfortably so I can not read anything
This is the screen shot at the start of lmule.

and this after resizing and opening the preference. The preferences look really ugly.

Any idea how to fix this?
Thanx

I just

Code:

emerge -C lmule

For the following reasons:

It takes up more CPU time than mldonkey
It can't connect to more than 1 server
It crashes on every searchquery I enter (that would be the main reason)
