|
|
I've got a current rc3 system running.
I tried to install xmltv which depends on these Perl modules:
XML::Twig
XML::Writer
Date::Manip
LWP
HTML::Parser
xmltv recommends installing these with the CPAN shell which sounds good to me because most are not emerge-able. LWP and Twig fail to install. This worked on debian/testing with perl 5.6.1. I'm thinking that it's 5.8.0's fault. Are there known problems with 5.8.0?
Has anyone had similar behavior? Anybody have ideas on what I should try next?
Thanks,
Scott |

Solved my problem.
Twig wouldn't compile because the version of expat was bad... Basically "use anything but 1.95.4 of expat" was in the Twig README.
I finally found an obscure note on Google groups about someone fixing his hostname in /etc/hosts and LWP tested and install. Hum, I did switch from wired to wireless and sure enough, I'm being handed a different IP from my router. ooops.
Hope this might help someone. |

Just to let you kow, portage comes with a script called g-cpan.pl that will make an ebuild for any module in can. Just give it the same and it will make an ebuild which you can emerge. |
