|
|
I just had a little problem. My partition /dev/hda3 where I have gentoo installed on it was full. This partition has reiser4 filesystem. When the partition went full my pc crashed and after that I was not able to boot anymore (not enough space on hd to make simlinks on boot). I could fix everything by just get some space free with a LiveCD. I was just wondering if that is normal or it's a bug of reiser4? |

A bug likely. It should complain that it's out of space and not crash. Send it to the reiser4 mailinglist. |

A little off topic maybe, but when will Reiser4 be considered stable? |

A much more interesting question is when it will be included in the mainline kernel; http://kerneltrap.org/node/5679
I started using reiser4 for /usr/portage and /var/tmp/portage last month, found a bug, reported it, fixed.
http://gentoo-wiki.com is currently down, but when it comes back up you can search for "reiser4 genpatches" -- it's the most stable route.
I personally use -mm on my laptop... but the thing gets incremental nightly backups : ) _________________ "Mr Thomas Edison has been up on the two previous nights discovering 'a bug' in his phonograph." --Pall Mall Gazette (1889)

What's the benefit over the current stable ReiserFS then? |
