hi,
finally I got my gentoo running but have the problem that it doesn't recognize my nic.
i wanted to add the module for my card to /etc/modules.autoload. So I checked the path given in Code listing 23.1:
/lib/modules/.../drivers/net
The only file I find in this directory is dummy.o
During installation from the CD my nic worked fine (CNet Pro 200).
Please give me advice what my problem could be.

u need to compile the support for your network card into your kernel... _________________ To an engineer the glass is neither half full, nor half empty - it is just twice as big as it needs to be. |

You have to make the modules for your kernel.
So you need to go through the make menuconfig thing once again and select you nic as M
or you can build it in your kernel select it as * but then you have to do a make bzImage again and copy it to the /boot dir
Do not forget to mount /boot when coping the file bzImage to it.
Good luck |
