Only half laptop LCD being used

When im in command *no X* only half my screen is being used, a chunk at the top and the bottom are both blank and all the info is in the middle of the screen and its damned annoying
i hadthis problem when i tried debian 3 with lilo and i fixed it with changing "vga=normal" to "vga=0x317". Is there anything simular i can do with grub? *oh yea im using grub as my bootloader:)*

Is that like what you want?

my lappie is the same way. frame buffer will use all of the screen.
