I've emerged it myself..
I cant type in characters with modifiers on it .. like ñõóô and such .. oddly i have no problems with the 3 specials native to my language æøå ..
If i select these characters from the list in "insert special char" it works fine, but thats kinda annoying.
I can use these chars just fine in other X applications..

try to start openoffice using
LANG=en_US ooffice
substitute en(english) with your language and US with your country
We have a thread about this already, try to use the search function for "two key accents".
