Just a quick suggestion, not sure if anyone else has mentioned it before. Would it be possible make the search compatible with dashes? For example, when I try to search for mysql big-tables it makes it mysql bigtables which is of no help at all. I run into these problems almost every other time I search. Also, some of the popular words it removes sometimes are needed and hence the gentoo forums search sucks way more than it did the first time I started using the forums, I might as well just start using google.
I understand these are done for performance purposes, but can't we sacrifice something else on the forums instead of search which is one of the most important features? How about just simply removing off the wall, that would free up enough resources for full searching . |

Hyphens are stripped before posts are indexed so I don't see your problem. The only thing that breaks is the highlighting. Try searching this forum for "big-tables" and choose "display as posts". _________________ Please read our FAQ Forum, it answers many of your questions.
