|
|
Hello...
What is the right MCPU-Entry in the make.conf for a PowerMac Dual G5 @ 2.7GHz?
On more Question: What is the right Stage-Archiv for that machine? The PPC64-64ul or the PPC64-32ul and what is differencies on that Stages? Maybe my Questions are stupid, but the last time I worked on Mac was in the 90th on a Powerbook 530C (68040).
Thnx

-mcpu=g5
The two stage group thingies, 32ul and 64ul, are the 32-bit userland and 64-bit userland respectively. As far as I can determine, unless you plan to use closed-source Linux binaries (for PPC? ), you want a 64-bit userland. A lot.
Enjoy running Linux on your G5.

I am short before to give up, because I am not able to make Gentoo running on my Mac.
See link for further details: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-391759.html
But I have to say. That is the fastest Computer I ever see. My dual Xeon is slow against this machine!

Okay no way. I can´t get Gentoo running on my PowerMac... Sometimes GPM dont´t want to compile. Sometimes yaboot don´t want to compile.
I give up!!!

The ppc64 Handbook says yaboot won't compile. You have to use yaboot-static.
