Hello again.
I just did a fresh install (stage3) then a emerge gnome (which took 24 hours to complete!) on my Sun Sparc 60 that has 1x360mhz processor and 2gigs ram.
I've set it up to use gdm in my rc.conf file.
when I run startx, I get the following:
Quote: |
....
Using vt7
xf87PciVideoInfo is not set
(==) Using default built-in configuration (43 lines)
(EE) LoadModule: Module keyboard does not have a keyboardModuleData data object.
(EE) Failed to load module "keyboard" (invalid module, 0)

greazy,
emerge gnome on a new install is a step to far for most people.
gnome has a dependancy on xorg, which portage will have compiled for you, however, xorg needs a configuration file to run properly. When gnome starts, xorg must strat first.
Your error is saying that xorg.conf (the configuration file) does not exist and xorg cannot guess suitable settings, or it would have started anyway.
You need to run xorgconfig and answer the questions. _________________ Regards,
