| I first saw this when I was trying to update courier-imap. Now I get this message whenever I try to "emerge -u world". What has gone wrong and what may I do to resolve this problem? |

I hate to be a bumping whore, but I really need to get this fixed. My server box needs this fixed, and I don't want to have to back up all my databases and web directories so I can reinstall.

| Don't really have an answer, but it sounds like it's not calculating baselayout's dependencies correctly. What version of portage are you running? Does the problem persist if you do "emerge sync"? You could also try remerging portage. |

Portage Version: 2.0.8
And as for "emerge sync", I tried that and it didn't help.

| Ahh, it looks like updating Portage itself might be helping. I'll post again when it's done to tell you if it fixed my problems or not. |
