Hi,
having problems merging my world since 3 days. mod_php won't compiling (configuring), cos it needs zend threads safety (zts). after i read this i put "threads", "pthreads", "ntpl" in my make.conf uses and merged "pth" but the problem still exists.

emerge info

thx for reply
what do you mean with php-portage? i cant find such an ebuild in my portage or what do you mean?
but you gave me an idea, i looked again with "eix php" and can see two possible ebuilds for php
dev-lang/php ~4.3.11-r1 ~4.4.0-r1 ~5.0.4-r1 ~5.0.5-r1
dev-php/php 4.3.11 4.3.11-r1 4.4.0 4.4.0-r1

but only one
dev-php/mod_php 4.3.11 4.3.11-r1 4.4.0 ~4.4.0-r1 4.4.0-r2 4.4.0-r3

i will try to install php5.0.5-r1 and i'm hoping it will get finished :-)

I'm still sitting before this problem.
Ok, i skipped mod-php and installed php5, but i had not in mind that i need php4 for php-gtk.
php5 installed fine, but php-4.4.0 reports about crosscompiling errors. It's curious, cos i don't crosscompile on my machine.
As long as php-gtk not exists for php5 i need php4 too. Can you help me?

I'm still sitting before this problem.
Ok, i skipped mod-php and installed php5, but i had not in mind that i need php4 for php-gtk.
php5 installed fine, but php-4.4.0 reports about crosscompiling errors. It's curious, cos i don't crosscompile on my machine.
As long as php-gtk not exists for php5 i need php4 too. Can you help me?

I don't know specificly about your problem but I do know that the way Gentoo handles PHP has been changed all PHP ebuilds dev-php/php, dev-php/php-cgi and dev-php/mod_php have been merged to one ebuild: dev-lang/php.

This is ment to allow you to have both PHP4 and PHP5 emerged side by side.

This site will help you upgrade.

I also suggest migrating anyway to dev-lang/php since it's the new way for supporting PHP in Gentoo.
But it would not fix your "PHP thinks it's being crosscompiled" problem, that one is known and has a solution:

thx alot CHTEKK!!!

emerge -av mysql
revdep-rebuild (with complications about ffmpeg, but solved them too :-) )

solved my problem. the problem before with the threads i solved when i updated my world with threads and ntpl in USE-flags (make.conf) and made a emerge -auND world, followed by remerging apache2 and glibc.
In revdep-rebuild i had some troubles with ffmpeg, which i had to downgrade one version for transcode and at last upgrade it again for xine-lib, but now everything works :-)
