Hi,
I have installed Gentoo Linux on an Travelmate 350TE and had the same troubles with the install cd.
What version of the install cd do you use?
After having troubles with install cd 1.4-rcX I have always used install cd 1.2 without any troubles.
Remember, only the install cd's depend on version numbers. You can install an 1.4 system with any install cd.

Try a 1.2 cd.

thanks simon , Is a good idea to install 1.4 using a 1.2 booting CD, but i still wanna what's going wrong here and expect a "real" solution.

I can report exactly the same problem with an acer 212TE, so must be some similar component causing the problem. Will also try another cd. I really like this gentoo concept of Portage and emerge and all that, being a RedHat 'er its going to be a culture shock |

Not much further on, need a 1.4 live CD to get the kernel module for my USB network card(pegasus.o), so i will just have to wait for a fix for the 1.4, would build a modules against the kernel and stick it on th CD but not worth the bother. |

Hello together,
I try to install Gentoo on a 352 TEV and run into similar problems. I can start everything properly with the 1.4rc4 livecd (acpi and normal dopcmcia) but as soon as i baked my on kernel I get this restart thing. I tryed the same config as the live cd kernel but it didnt help... so my guess is that it is something with the initrd which i didnt check out yet.
Any confirmation or solution around yet ??
Thanks in advance
