Hi,

If you want to use the "kat" desktop search tool, you can find a link to an ebuild file here: http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=22135. Installation instructions can be found here: http://kat.mandriva.com/wiki/index.php/Getting_started#Gentoo_2.

Your need at least kernel 2.6.13 with enabled iNotify-support and should use sqlite-3.2.1-r3 instead of an up-to-date sqlite, otherwise the kde-daemon will crash.

I've tested this with kat 0.6.3.

Kat doesn't seem to index any metainfo on my mp3's. Is this working for you? I have kdemultimedia-kfile-plugins-3.4.1, I don't know what else it would need.

Yes,

ID3-Tags are indexed in kat here. Meanwhile, I've changed to "fresh brewed" svn checkout of kat. This seems to work more stable for me. BTW: I'm using kat on KDE 3.5-beta1.

I'm not an expert on KDE kfile plugins, but I would suppose, too, that kdemultimedia-kfile-plugins should be the right plugin. Do you have installed taglib, which was used by Amarok, for example?
