Hi,
A couple of weeks ago I upgraded my system to 2.12 Gnome, GCC3.4 and Python 2.4 and since then these programs have stopped working. What happens is that the all the programs start, then in the case of nicotine, you do a search successfully but when you try and download and it fails. Qtorrent and azureus have a similar problem in that you load a torrent into it to download, it states that it's initialising, but stops there.
I don't think this is a network problem as nicotine worked fine before from work and home. I don't have a firewall set up on this box, I still need to learn how, so I don't think that's stopping it. However, when I do a NAT test in Azureus on the 6881 and 2240(nicotine) ports, it states that I get a NAT error.
Any ideas would be appreciated at this point.

it's a long shot, but i had problems like this when i accidently disabled the loopback device. make sure /etc/init.d/net.lo is set to run at boot. _________________ by design, by neglect

It might be necessary to run 'python-updater', although i'd have thought a rebuilt world ought not to need it.
I've no idea about the other two, but 'qtorrent' would certainly get buggered up by a 'python' upgrade...
EDIT: ...& after a quick look at the ebuild, 'nicotine' would, too. The problem with 'azureus' is probably just because it's shit! _________________ "Anyone who goes to see a psychiatrist should have their head examined!" |

Found the problem with nicotine; setting the allow direct connections option is bad, unless you have control of the NAT router. Azureus is just so glacial it just didn't appear to be working! Sorry, |

Have a look at http://www.portforward.com/ & see if your router's configuration is listed & explained.
