valgrind 1.04 refuses to work on a Mobile PentiumII machine, 2.4.19-gentoo-r10 kernel, gcc 3.2.2 (I think I also saw this with a 3.2.1r? version).
The pretty-serious sounding message it reports is shown below:
Code: | unix% valgrind /usr/bin/perl -e 'print("42\n");'
valgrind.so: When searching for client's argc/argc/envp:
startup %esp is not near any VG_STARTUP_STACK_BASE_*
constants defined in vg_include.h. You should investigate.
valgrind.so: Startup or configuration error:
couldn't find client's argc/argc/envp
valgrind.so: Unable to start up properly. Giving up.

I chose perl as an example, but it reports the same problem for everything else I've thrown at it except for xterm
I have unmerged, and re-emerged valgrind several times to no avail.
As a long shot I was wondering whether it had anything to do with prelinking, which I have done? or I'm just incompotent |
