Guys,

I am having a hard time finding a SUN scsi card for my U10, I am really getting annoyed with the disk performance of this machine, the rest of it seems to be pretty good - I think what really did it was sourcing an Ultra 2 for my dad, that machine out paces the U10 easily on disk performance and keeps pace on comiles etc.

So what are my options ?

What SCSI cards (sun or otherwise) can I boot from ? (and details of suppliers would be handy too).
Once the machine is booted, I guess I could use pretty much anything for storage after that ?

The box has two ULTRA 100 40Gb disks in it, so maybe once the system is on a SCSI disk I could also add an IDE controller and build in kernel support and use those for just storage ?

Ideas on a postcard please ;)

Hi,

SCSI cards that are OBP compatible? Your best best is to go to ebay and type in "sun symbios" or "sun antares". You might consider buying your own ultra2 or ultra60 instead, as the IDE is only one part of the Ultra10 that makes it a lame duck.

Yeah I am beginning to wonder actually.. its not that *BAD* apart from the crap disk performance..
The PCI hardware is handy tho, cheap net cards among other things.
