Are fontconfig, freetype and xft2 included in 4.3 so we don't need ebuilds for these anymore? |

Hey guys! I'm a little confused. When I try to emerge xfree-4.3.0, i get this:
Calculating dependencies \
!!! all ebuilds that could satisfy ">=media-libs/freetype-2.1.3-r2" have been masked.
!!! (dependency required by "x11-base/xfree-4.3.0" [ebuild])
!!! Error calculating dependancies. Please correct.
What should i do now? _________________ https://niko.nwps.fi |

well... i had installed those freetype before (2.1.2 or something) and emerged by emerge --nodeps /usr/portage/x11-base/xfree/xfree....ebuild. this worked great, seems that there are no additional packages about to be updated. i run the system few hours now and have no probs. |

How does one go about doing this? Before I upgraded I had pretty alpha blended cursors and cursor shadows. _________________ My car is made of Nerf. |

Don't know why, but it's masked.
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -u xfree should do the job. |

A little research and I got it. You need to change the "Inherits=" line in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/icons/default/index.theme to "Inherits=whiteglass" or whichever your preference is. That will change it for all users. If a single user wants to change their xcursor theme they should add this to their .Xdefaults file:
Code: | Xcursor.size: 16
Xcursor.theme: whiteglass |

Can anyone post a screenshot? I want to see what those cursors look like. (If there are any other significant visual updates, try to make the screenshots show them off) _________________ Tactless

Cursors are shy.... They don't show up in screenshots. You're better off perhaps checking out kde-look.org or somethin' _________________ Lego my ego, and I'll lego your knowledge

Since Upgrading to XFree 4.3 the more, less, bar key doesn't work anymore under X, while there's no problem at the console. Any suggestions anyone? (german keyboard layout) |

You have to use the DRI drivers with Xfree 4.3.
http://dri.sourceforge.net/
I don't know whether anyone has created an ebuild for those or the ATI (radeon 8500+) drivers are already included in Xfree 4.3 sources. |

Anybody knows why I get a bigger virtual screen even though I said no in xf86config? (I had the same problem in 4.2.99) _________________ "Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves." - Abraham Lincoln

Well, you don't have to compile nvidia-kernel, but i dont know if nvidia-glx (which is binary) works on 4.3 |

Well, i've emerged it now.. and it works good, nice pointer!
But there's one problem.. i can't change resolution with Ctrl-Alt-+ and Ctrl-Alt-- anymore.
Any suggestions _________________ /Imar - Illusion doesn't mean unreal. Illusion means an impossibility to decide whether it is real or unreal.
